Older residents in Kentucky face significant barriers in accessing quality healthcare services and preventive screenings. The state also has relatively high mortality rates from preventable causes and general health indicators such as smoking and obesity are above national averages.
These combined factors make aging well in Kentucky more difficult than in states with stronger public health and clinical care systems.
