4. CompUSA

Another ’90s store I loved? CompUSA. My grandchildren are all about their iPhones now, but they have no idea how special it was to save up for a couple of weeks and then head to CompUSA to get an internal modem, a floppy disk, or the latest Windows wizardry. This ’90s store was basically a nerdy playground for computer lovers, am I right?

Every aisle buzzed with the energy and excitement of teens and tech enthusiasts checking out the latest gadgets. Unfortunately, with competition from online giants and more modern retailers, our favorite ’90s store couldn’t keep up. It filed for bankruptcy in 2007 and shut down shortly after.

What can I say? I’ll forever cherish the memory of leaving with a shiny new PC tower in the backseat. That’s how the digital lives started for many of us, right?
